Joker Native by Michael Connelly
"Joker Seven" by David A. Ahead has several similarities to the predecessor"A Clockwork Orange", yet another dark comedy from the master crime novelist Tom Clancy. Like the first publication, this book presents a complicated and intricate plot which can be told in two parallel and connected sessions. This book has been praised by critics and has sold more copies than any of Prior's previous novel.
The story centers around a newly-trained private detective who has to contend with personal conflicts when he is called to the scene of a brutal sexual attack. The sufferer is a attractive young girl who works as a call girl. Her beauty is tapped by the serial killer who decides to kill her in order to fulfill a dark ritual that he thinks will give him supreme strength and freedom. This evil man also plans to steal the identity of the approaching baby within her own life. He forces the alluring young girl to meet him in a secluded region and ambushes and kills her in cold blood.
After the incident, the detective is assigned to the case by his superior, Detective Inspector Harry Sloane. Sloane suspects that the serial killer can have a link to other victims and goes to New York City to nullify the alleged offender. During the course of their investigation, Sloane becomes suspicious of their motives of the serial killer along with his associates. He deduces that the girl Sloane is advised to meet is in fact the killer's future wife, and he gets her to convince her to leave town to give birth to the child that Sloane is intending to rescue.
The second half of this novel concentrates on the puzzle behind the arrival of the kid. It reveals the grisly method where the infant is left in the care of a family in rural Arkansas. His biological father is missing, and he's believed to have been murdered by the serial killer. During sleuthing and interviewing individuals, clues are found that link the killer into some other offense he was involved in, and he is finally brought to justice. Here is the second half of the story that you get when you buy Joker Seven.
During this exciting publication, there are numerous clues which are solved that become critical to solving this situation. One such clue includes the discovery of an unknown man who was seen close to the scene of this crime. This guy is linked to the criminal by a codex which was taken during the attack, leading the group to believe he may know more about the link between the serial killer and this victim. Another important clue is that the discovery of a briefcase with advice about how best to make a different type of bomb. The data has been included on a credit card belonging to the defendant.
After the book closed using an investigation complete, there was one more puzzle to solve. Police Detective Sloane needed to track down the guy who'd given the credit card into the caller. He managed to track down him, but regrettably, the man he was searching for proven to be the prime suspect himself. The image description of the offenses perpetrated convinced Sloane that he must trust Harry's gut instinct regarding the case, and he requested him to accompany him to Harry's office to consult with Harry regarding the situation.
As soon as I finished reading this novel, I really felt sorry for Harry because he really felt he had been railroaded inside this publication. He felt as the detectives seeking to utilize sleuthing techniques and tricks to get to the bottom of this offense. I also felt sorry for Nancy. She did everything she was supposed to do. Needless to say, we mustn't overlook the killer himself. He had been so cold heartedly grinning we even forgot just how badly he killed his victims.
I recommend this book to people who love suspense and mystery. It is not only a great study; it also teaches you valuable lessons about human nature, forgiveness, and the perils of selfishness. Also, this story is extremely well composed. There were moments that I almost wanted to yell, but I understood that this was just made worse by the fact that the serial killer was a repeat offender. Nevertheless, this story of a killer having a sadistic side along with a desire for revenge was just way too true to pass up.
